In the mangas final chapter, Keiko, through Kuwabara, learns that Yusuke made a confession that she (Keiko) is his goddess (the term used by Yusuke himself). As it turns out, Togashi originally wanted to end Yu Yu Hakusho at the end of the Chapter Black/Sensui arc, a full year prior to where it eventually concluded, but was pressured to keep the series going due to its popularity. Which was kind of similar but I felt the manga went more in depth. I prefer the manga, mainly because its the original version, but they are both pretty similar and the anime is a good adaptation. When a series ends on such a strange note, speculation runs rampant throughout the fandom, as it can be legitimately hard to understand why a creator would seemingly turn their back on their own story. The arc where Yusuke is a ghost is a lot longer in the manga and has a different tone than the rest of the series (which is probably why they cut it out of the anime).
